Why is Underwater Welding So Dangerous?

There are a lot of different kinds of welding at this current point in time, and the type of welding that you might be interested in is often based on what you want to do with your welding knowledge. A truly critical welding type often requires you to start welding under the surface of the oceans due to the reason that this is where a lot of really amazing oil rigs are being created which usually use metal and this is why welding is so useful in these fields and why underwater welders earn more than their land based counterparts.

 

One thing to bear in mind is that safe welding is a bit more difficult to do under water without a shadow of a doubt. As a result of the fact that this is the case, you need to figure out the dangers associated with underwater welding, and a particular danger that we would like to point out has to do with the higher likelihood of electric shocks and explosions. Arc welding uses electricity to generate heat since this is more efficient than other methods, but using this welding technique underwater is going to be understandably dangerous since everyone knows that water and electricity never mix.

 

That’s why there are so many safety protocols put in place in order for arc welding underwater to be as safe as it needs to be. There is a great deal of safety equipment that you would be putting on, and suffice it to say that as long as you follow all of the guidelines that you have been given there is a relatively low chanced that you would sustain a major injury.
